  • 1.  How do you get funders involved with Recruitment?

    Hi Program Managers,

    We need YOUR help!

This question might be more applicable to the partner PMs but if anyone from SBA has some best practices please feel free to share.

I know some of you are funded by banks and other financial institutions. I had a question from a Partner PM about best practices to get your funding partners engaged in the recruitment process. So I wanted to put it out to the group.
    • How do you engage funders in the recruitment of business owners?
    • What are some of the tangible ways you've involved them in the process?
    • What are the specific asks you bring to them?

Even if you only have one thing to add please do, every bit counts. And if you see something that you agree with please say that you agree.

Lastly, if you do not have any experience but have ideas of how to engage them feel free to list those as well.

    Thanks for supporting the Network!

    Hi, Tanisha and fellow PMs!

I have been abme to engage funders in a few ways to support recruitment. I think the most important thing is to be sure they understand the kind of businesses that will be successful in our program.

    1) I invite them to kick-off, to serve as a guest expert in session 6 and session 11, and to graduations.
    2) I send an anecdotal update every module sharing the progress the business owners have made and call out a few specific examples or quotes. This is helpful so that their lender team can recognize similar sentiments in their own clientele and draw a link back to us.
    3) I also share who has referred businesses and the gratitude the owners have felt for the referring party. If they do refer someone, I keep them in the loop throughout the recruitment process and share why they are or are not a good fit.
    4) I send them language they can copy and paste into an email to potential applicants. I send them social media posts. I tag them on social media.

I hope some of these ideas will help! I think the key is to keep them engaged the whole year so that we remain top of mind!
